I am switching from a low carb diet to a low fat diet diet. Do you think I will gain weight?

Question by Crystal O: I am switching from a low carb diet to a low fat diet diet. Do you think I will gain weight?
I have been on a low carb diet for seven months and I’ve lost 25 lbs. I have pleateued at the same weight for about 3 months. I want to try and exercise more but I find I have no energy to run as much as I used to before low carb. I also miss fruits and whole grains, such as cereal, and I need more fiber in my diet (its very hard to use the bathroom on low carb if you know what I mean). I know I lost weight on low carb and I’m scared to death if I switch back I will regain. I’m just so confused! And if I do add carbs back should I still limit them? Like only at breafkast and lunch? Someone who is nowledgeable please help!! Thanks so much.

you should really limit your carb intake at night. Heavy foods at night are not good. still eat your carbs and enjoy low fat. just remember low fat doesn’t always mean its healthier for you.

I need to lose 30 pound of baby weight fast. My husband did the diet and lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks. I wasn’t sure if it worked for women. Any advice? What was your experience?

I did the South Beach diet and lost about 7 pounds the first two weeks. It works for both men and women, and the amount of weight you lose depends entirely on how much you need to lose in the first place. If you don’t need to lose as much as your hubby, you won’t lose as much as he did in the first few weeks. Don’t dispair though. Men tend to lose weight more quickly than women because they have a larger muscle mass, and muscles help to burn fat faster. That’s why it’s super important to do both cardio and weights when trying to lose weight.

Ahem, back to the diet, it does work for women too. The reason being is carbs have a tendency to increase your insulin levels, which stores your fat. Protein, such as chicken, beef, and cheese doesn’t do that, and so you don’t store as much fat with those types of food. Of course, you gotta be careful though. Too much high fat cheese will make you gain weight simply because of the fat content. Make sure if you’re going to try it is try drinking some fibre drink, and get LOTS of fresh veggies in your diet! If not, you’ll become constipated. Good luck!
